CURLING CLASSIC 2002 & COACHES SYMPOSIUM

The Kingsmith International is a high performance initiative for junior curlers hosted by the Canadian Curling Associations National Development Centre and the Glencoe Club at the Glencoe Club in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Eight international (Italy (1), Japan (2), USA (1)) and Canadian (4) junior teams will participate in a five day high performance camp & coaches symposium led by Bill Tschirhart (CCA's National Development Coach) complemented with a competition organized by Brett Waldroff, Curling Coordinator of The Glencoe Club.

The objective of the Kingsmith International is to provide the opportunity for junior curlers (both Canadian and International) and coaches to access the facilities and coaching resources available at The Glencoe Club. In six years, athletes from Scotland, USA, Germany, England, New Zealand, Korea and Japan have attended with Canadian players coming from Alberta, Northwest Territories, Ontario, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and the Yukon. Entries will be limited to twelve Junior Elite Teams. Invitations for the Kingsmith International Curling Classic 2002 are being extended to other Canadian regional training centres as well.

Eligibility:

Teams must be juniors eligible to participate in the 2003 World Junior Curling Championships with the minimum age being 14. Teams must be accompanied by a certified coach. Attendence at the high performance clinic is mandatory to participate in the competition.

Costs:

Teams are expected to pay their own transportation to Calgary. Three hotel rooms per team for five players and a coach will be blocked of at a hotel to be announced later. Accommodation, meals and transportation to and from The Glencoe Club will be paid for by our funding partners:
